The migration from Compass to Compass+ marks the first stage in our journey to enhance your experience using our digital products.
The Compass evaluation has been updated in line with the changes made to the Gatsby Benchmarks. To support you with navigating the changes and understanding how the updates can benefit you and your institution, we’ve spoken to colleagues in a range of settings to find out about their experience of completing the updated evaluation for the first time.
Creating the space for deeper reflection
“The updated Compass evaluation not only makes me more accountable, but it makes me stay accountable.”
Liz Soulby, Curriculum Leader for Personal Development, Charlton School
Taking a more detailed, evidenced approach creates a highly accurate, insightful picture of a setting’s current careers provision, allowing greater scope for continuous development and improvement. It also empowers institutions to collaborate more effectively, through opportunities such as Careers Impact peer-to-peer reviews.

Fostering an integrated approach to careers
“The changes in the Gatsby Benchmarks and the opportunity to reflect deeply on these through the Compass evaluation, have allowed me to refocus with a purpose to deliver the best possible careers programme.”
Emma Swinburn, Associate Principal – CfPD & PPD Employability
Building an inclusive approach to sharing the outcomes of the Compass evaluation is invaluable in engaging colleagues at all levels across an institution, cultivating an ethos of shared responsibility and an investment in a common purpose. Whilst the updated Compass evaluation remains familiar it provides a real opportunity to review provision through a fresh lens and bring all colleagues on the journey.
